2008-2009 Season Preview

The 8th grade boys enter the 2008-2009 basketball season coming off a very successful football season. Their championship in the Sioux Falls Middle School football league will give them confidence and momentum heading into the grueling basketball season. Enthusiasm is at an all-time high for these round-ballers, equally as high are the expectations. Some experts are touting this "one of the most athletic" 8th grade classes of recent memory. They have even caught the eye of varsity head coach Brent Deckert, "I am excited to see this class grow and mature."
Assistant coach Dan Klumper remarks, "Not only is this a talented group of kids athletically, they are also very fun to be around." Head Coach Jason Bisbee agrees, "This is just a fun group of kids to work with." Klumper also adds, "I especially love going on road trips and taking their food at McDonalds, especially from the Mulder Twins."
As the season starts up, it will be an important first two weeks for the 8th grade Lynx, in which skill development is greatly stressed. "A lot of fundamentals are lost in ABL and open gym," says Coach Bisbee, "that is why we need to focus on that from the start and develop good habits." Coach Klumper couldn't agree more, "The first two weeks gives us a great opportunity to work on skill development and conditioning. These boys will be ready for their opening game condition-wise. That's for sure."
Another strength of the 8th grade boys basketball team is the all-star managing team of McKenzie Waugh, Sammy Batzler, Jaysa Widmann, and Hunter Pfeifle. Between the four of them, they have 17 years of experience being basketball managers. Their greatest asset to the squad is their ability to provide Chips Ahoy cookies to Coach Klumper and Coach Bisbee.
Good Luck to the 08-09 8th Grade boys Basketball team. Go Lynx!
